Heck yeah, Switchfoot!

Listen to all but one track of Vice Verses @ ESPN from now until Sept 27th -

Switchfoot’s new album, “Vice Verses” (iTunes | Amazon), doesn’t come out until Sept. 27, but you can get an early preview of nearly all of it by listening to ESPN Music’s stream below.

The Grammy-winning, million-selling band formed in 1996 in San Diego, Calif., and has put out seven previous albums. Switchfoot consists of Jon Foreman (lead vocals, guitar), Tim Foreman (bass), Jerome Earl Fontamillas (keyboards, guitar), Chad Butler (drums) and Drew Shirley (guitar).

Switchfoot’s 2004 song “Dare You To Move” peaked at No. 17 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Songs chart, the album “Nothing Is Sound” reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart in 2005 and “Hello Hurricane” hit No. 4 on the Rock Albums chart in 2009.

You can try to win a trip for two to the 2012 Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., by entering the “Switchfoot Flyway Sweepstakes” here. Five of the songs from “Vice Verses” will also be used on ESPN’s college football coverage this season.

Switchfoot is currently on a U.S. tour, so you can check here to see when the band is playing near you.

Listen to every track from the album, except “Where I Belong,” below through Sept. 27.

NOTE: I found that if I was in Firefox it wouldn’t work, but I can verify that it works in Internet Explorer and/or an IE tab within Firefox (if you have the IE Tab extension), and I have seen people saying that it works in Chrome.

I am LOVING the album and several of the tracks made me weep openly, so I highly recommend checking out the stream!

Also remember, you can still pre-order the album (and a couple levels of deluxe editions) at Switchfoot.com and be entered to win some nifty prizes. Also be sure to check out the list of tour dates to see if there’s any in your area!

“The new record really wrestles with the already-but-not-yet concept. As a believer, I think we’re really cognizant of the idea that we live in a broken, hurting world, yet there’s a bright and shining light of hope that’s transcending everything that we do. And we’re all trying to come to terms with that. I think hope is not simply looking around and saying that everything’s great – that’s just ridiculous. For hope to have substance, it has to acknowledge the pain. But hope is saying that’s not the final story. It’s not saying pain doesn’t exist, but it’s saying there’s not a period at the end of that sentence. It’s still being written.” — Tim Foreman, on Vice Verses {x}

“The concept of Hello Hurricane, the idea that there will be storms in your life, you will face – whether it’s relational or environmental, you know, the things that happened in Japan – you’re going to be able to face all that stuff. And the idea of Hello Hurricane is to be able to not run away from it but to face your hurricane. Those are the things God has been teaching me in the past few years.” — Jerome Fontamillas
